Biography

Harro L. Hartmann received his Dipl.-Ing. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin (Germany) in 1962 and the Dr.-Ing. degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Technical University of Munich (Germany) in 1966. From 1962 until 1971 he was with the Central Laboratory of Siemens AG and Chief Engineer at the Institute of Communication Techniques, Technical University Munich. In 1972, he became a Full Professor at the newly founded Institute for Communication Systems (ICS), Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany.

He is the author of more than hundred papers on digital transmission, network synchronization (Quality Award of the ITG/VDE) and stochastic processes in communication systems.  He holds several patents on network equipments including route processing. Since October 2000 the ICS joined the Institute of Computer Systems. Within the common ”Institute of Computer and Network Engineering” Hartmann‘s lecture and research activities concern Operations Research (OR) for New Telecommunication Networks. Hartmann is a member of ITG/VDE, the German Society of Informatics (GI) and Life member of the IEEE.
