Jonas research focuses on time-critical communication processing of large data objects in safety-critical systems. He adopts a holistic approach, examining the interaction of all components along sensor-to-actuator chains. The application areas are diverse, including but not limited to autonomous systems in the field of mobility (such as autonomous driving and collaborative perception between vehicles), industrial automation with co-working robots, and other types of autonomous robots.
A key focus of his work lies in wireless communication, where loss effects and limited resources pose significant challenges. Solutions to these issues have been presented in various works listed below. In this context, Jonas has demonstrated that focusing on the application data level, as opposed to packet-centric communication, can make real-time communication more reliable and efficient.
